Automotive content writing
Car content written by someone who knows the cars
I’m Brian Nyambura, the writer behind MotorQuips. For more than 10 years I’ve written and managed automotive content: buyer guides, technical explainers and SEO articles that people actually read. I work with dealers, importers, parts and lubricant brands, garages and publications, in East Africa and abroad.
Track record
Writing that earns readers
Across more than two years as a freelance automotive list and features writer for HotCars, my articles regularly passed 100,000 readers in a month, and most of my projects averaged around 70,000 monthly readers (see my HotCars articles). Today I run MotorQuips, where I research, write, edit and publish every article myself, from used-car buying guides to engine and drivetrain explainers.
As a freelance automotive writer for SlashGear, I covered cars, trucks, EVs and motorcycles, with a focus on engines and buyer research: pieces like the most reliable cars powered by GM’s EcoTec engine, every BMW powered by the N52, and the best new SUVs and pickups for towing. See my SlashGear articles.
What I write
Services
Buyer guides and comparisons
Model comparisons, “best of” lists and used-car guides that answer the questions buyers ask before they visit a showroom. See How to Buy a Used Car and the F-150 vs Silverado vs Ram 1500 comparison.
Technical explainers
Engines, transmissions, brakes and maintenance explained clearly and accurately, for owners who want to understand their car. See What Is Brake Fade and the guide to automotive transmissions.
Content for dealers and importers
Vehicle descriptions, model pages and location pages that help buyers find your stock in search, written from the specs and history of each car rather than copied boilerplate.
Content strategy and management
Keyword research, editorial calendars, content audits and WordPress publishing. I can plan and run your blog, not just supply articles for it.
Who I work with
- Car dealers and importers who need their listings and model pages found and trusted
- Parts, tyre and lubricant brands that want technical guides their customers rely on
- Garages and service centres answering the questions owners search before booking
- Automotive publications and agencies looking for a dependable freelance writer
Why work with me
- I know the subject. You won’t need to explain the difference between a dual-clutch gearbox and a CVT, or between a 1KD and a 1GD.
- Facts come from the source. Specs, ratings and regulations are checked against manufacturers, regulators and official data, not other blogs.
- Search is built in. Every piece starts from what people actually search for, with titles, structure and internal links planned before writing.
- On the ground in Nairobi. For East African clients, I can talk to mechanics and importers and work with real local prices and conditions.
How it works
- Brief. You send what you need, who it’s for and any deadline. A short call works too.
- Plan. I send a quote and an outline with the target keywords before any writing starts.
- Draft. You get the full piece, with one round of revisions included.
- Delivery. In Google Docs or ready to publish in WordPress. I can publish it on your site for you.
Common questions
How much does it cost?

Can you write under my brand’s name?
Yes. I write bylined pieces and ghostwritten content for brands and publications.
Do you work with clients outside Kenya?
Yes. Most of my writing has been for international audiences, and I work comfortably across time zones by email and video call.
How long does an article take?
A standard 1,500 to 2,500 word article is delivered within five working days of an approved outline. Larger projects get an agreed schedule.
