In the pickup truck realm, Ford is largely known for its Ranger lineup in Kenya. While Ford produces larger variants like the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty in other markets, sadly, they aren’t available in right-hand drive configuration.
The new 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty comes close to satiating the needs of buyers looking for a capable and large pickup truck.
It will help expand the Ford Ranger lineup, which already includes the base model, the offroad-capable Ranger Raptor and now the tougher Ranger Super Duty.
Ranger Super Duty Powertrain
Ford remains tight-lipped about the mystery engines that will power this new workhorse. However, the current generation turbodiesel V6 would make a great powertrain.
The turbodiesel V6 produces 247 hp and 600 Nm of torque in the Ranger, enabling it to tow up to 3.5 tonnes.
However, the new 2026 Ranger Super Duty promises to tow up to 4.5 tonnes. Ford also lists a Gross Combined Mass and Gross Vehicle Mass of 8 and 4.5 tonnes, respectively.
To achieve this, Ford would have to rework the turbodiesel V6 or use the 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 in the F-150. Currently, this engine produces 400 hp and 678 Nm of torque, enough power to tow up to 4.5 tonnes.
This is the first Super Duty version of the Ranger and it will be built in Thailand for international markets.
Ford Ranger Super Duty Design
Ford only gives us a shadowy teaser image of the Ranger Super Duty’s front. However, this hints at a wider Ford Ranger, allowing it to easily accommodate a stronger suspension system to handle its towing, GCM and GVM numbers.
The wider teaser image also showcases larger wheel arches, hinting that the Ranger Super Duty will get an increased track width and wider wheels like the twin-turbo V6-powered Ranger Raptor.
